History:

King Charles Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is descendent of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel first introduced by American resident Roswell Eldrige   in 1926. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel develop in result of cross breeding King Charles spaniel with pug which offered by Roswell in Cruft’s show held in London.  First this dog called as Ann’s son having modern name Cavalier King Charles Spaniel classified as separate dog breed in 1940s. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel brought in United States in 1956 by W. Lyon Brown which later recognized by American Kennel Club in 1995.

Life span:

Average life expectancy of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is about 9-12 years.

Other name:

Ruby Spaniel and Blenheim spaniel are other name of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Average 3-5 puppies

Physical appearance:

Blenheim (white and chestnut), tricolor (tan, black and white), ruby, and black tan are four different colors of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog coat. Silky and smooth coat found in four colors with single mark. Smaller size Cavalier King Charles Spaniel reaches to 12-13 inches in height with average 10-18 pound weight with it become mature. Undocked furry tail, dark brown round eyes, black nose and longer ears make it more attractive.

Behavior:

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is affectionate, intelligent, obedient and faithful dog closer to their owner. They assume best dog as they easily adjust in each environment. They have excellent stamina. Stay polite and affectionate with children.

Shyness also seems in Cavalier King Charles Spaniel personality but they easily socialize with family members and also with strangers. Don’t insist you dog to stay alone in home. They closely bound with family and other dog.  Involve them with different game and treat if it necessary to stay theme home but not for long time.

Living condition:

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is medium energy dog stay well in apartment and small house as well as larger home. They excellently adjust in every living style. Smaller homes with average yard are recommended for Cavalier King Charles Spaniel living. Fairly active toy spaniel dog stay active during indoor as well as in yard during playing.  Take care of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel feeding. Avoid over eating because it gain weight quickly. They stay well in winter but summer brings tough time for them.

Health:

Generally Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is active dog yet prone to eye disease, ear infections and hip dysplasia commonalty. Earlier onset MVD are major health issue developed genetically. It will lead to death.  Heart related health issue also examines in Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog. They need proper vacation and treatment. Grooming:

Moderate grooming is required to keep the coat in good condition. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is moderate shedder. Regularly brush their coat with bristle brush to remove dead hair and extra skin oils. Bath is necessary during heated day otherwise dry shampoo work best. Make sure coat is fully dry after bathing. Trim their coat occasionally especially trim the hair between pads on the feet. Clean ear and brush teeth to protect them for different infections.

Exercise:

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel are active and medium energy dog, they have in need of daily walk to burn extra calories otherwise they gain weight which is ingenious for their health. Playing time is good for them but it can’t cover their exercise so take them for regular walk on leach with pack leadership.

Training:

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is intelligent and independent dog breed hard to train. Obedience and Agility are statement character of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel personality yet they need define and packed leadership for training.  They are excelled digger. Teach them not to dig the yard. Don’t insist you dog stay in kennel because they don’t live along without family and other dog.
